Good Plan

Greetings on this the Wednesday of the Fourteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: Gn 41:55-57; 42:5-7a, 17-24a; PS 33:2-3, 10-11, 18-19; Mt 10:1-7

First reading
Even in the midst of famine, the Lord saves.

Seven years of great abundance are now coming throughout the land of Egypt; but seven years of famine will rise up after them, when all the abundance will be forgotten in the land of Egypt. When the famine has exhausted the land, no trace of the abundance will be found in the land because of the famine that follows it, for it will be very severe (Gen 41:29-31).

The plan to store grain came about seven years earlier. In this plan, food for the world and reunion between brothers.

God makes really good plans.

Responsorial Psalm
Lord, let your mercy be on us, as we place our trust in you.
But see, the eyes of the LORD are upon those who fear him,
upon those who hope for his kindness,
To deliver them from death
and preserve them in spite of famine.

Alleluia Verse
The Kingdom of God is at hand:
repent and believe in the Gospel.

Gospel Portion
We read the Genesis portion on the good plan of storing food for the years of famine in advance and the saving of an entire starving world with reconciliation between brothers.

How much more so Jesus’ Twelve disciples!

To them he gave authority over unclean spirits to drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness. Then, as you go, make this proclamation: ‘The Kingdom of heaven is at hand.’

It’s a good plan.
