First reading
After the man, Adam, had eaten of the tree,
the LORD God called to the man and asked him, “Where are you?”
In the sequence of the creation story, only Adam was given instructions on how to avoid eating the Tree of Knowledge of Good and Evil. It was for Adam to do and who transmitted the regulation to Eve, or failed to do so properly. Nevertheless, he was standing right beside her (who was with her Gen 3:6) when the devil came to tempt.
Team error.
Responsorial Psalm
Sing to the Lord a new song, for he has done marvelous deeds.
Second reading
In him we were also chosen,
destined in accord with the purpose of the One
who accomplishes all things according to the intention of his will,
so that we might exist for the praise of his glory,
we who first hoped in Christ.
We too are chosen. We celebrate the singular gift of the immaculate conception of Mary for she had a mission. Much as we celebrate the special sanctified life of Moses, Elijah, and the Apostles. In her case, she is given a first fuit of the Redemptive Merit of Christ.
Alleluia Verse
Hail, Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with you;
blessed are you among women.
Gospel Portion
Mary and Jesus reverse the error of Adam and Eve.
Team win!
Jesus had superior support for Mary in the singular grace.
Mary has a superior exchange with an Angel (Gabriel) than Eve with the bad Angel (the Snake).
