Greetings on this the Thursday of the Fifteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: Ex 3:13-20; Ps 105:1 and 5, 8-9, 24-25, 26-27; Mt 11:28-30
Notes: I find my rest in Jesus. I find discomfort in the pollution of the Church by raw opportunism.
- There is peace knowing I speak out for truth and right relations between people who are different than me.
- There is peace in helping those in distress.
- There is peace in helping my community in its common life together.
- There is peace in knowing I accept the yoke and teachings of Jesus.
My question to right wing Catholics who swore in 2015 that if candidate Donald Trump would act out inappropriately they would impeach him and not vote for him again.
Source: https://www.politico.com/interactives/2023/trump-criminal-investigations-cases-tracker-list/
- Donald Trump loses civil rape trial, ordered to pay $5 million.
- Donald Trump led the Insurrection attempt.
- Donald Trump will be charged in the voter fraud case in multiple States.
- Donald Trump will be charged in the attack on the Capitol.
- Donald Trump is charged with tax fraud.
- The list continues to grow.
His civil and personal ethics are an abomination especially his open and easily proven set of lies to teenagers and young adults. There are other choices for candidates.
Catholics
- Feigned ignorance is not an excuse – yours or his.
- Feigned innocence is not an excuse – yours of his.
- Feigned doubt of facts/truth and the promotion of conspiracy is not an excuse – yours or his.
- The naked truth is you actually like and accept his criminality and personal and public malfeasance.
- Unholy Alliance. You accept it because the deal you made with this devil is of higher value to you than truth, or the Church or the Yoke of Jesus.
Do you actually believe Trump is Moses, sent by God?
Or King David anointed King?
Or made wise like Solomon?
Or anything, I mean anything, like Jesus?
How is it this man is still your candidate?
I don’t have grandchildren. I am shocked you want your grandchildren to live in a world of lies and power, a new tribalism that will destroy us. You teach Trump: all of it. Civics is an endeavor of integrity and ethics. [G-d] I have decided to lead you up out of the misery of Egypt.
The new Pharaoh
You actually, are the new Pharaoh, imprisoning the children. The actions and reactions of Pharaoh and his minions:
- Midwives also prosper in children – Harsher Penalties
- Turned the entire people against the Jews
- Pharaoh’s Sister saves. Hard Labor.
- Would not Listen
- Remained Obstinate
- Pray the Lord – Tomorrow Would not Listen.
Negotiated. Stay Close – Pray for me. - Remained Obstinate
- Remained Obstinate
- I have sinned again! The Lord is Just. Pray to the Lord.
- Negotiated. Set the terms. Only the men.
- Hastily summoned Moses – I have sinned! Pray at least.
- Negotiated. Set the terms without livestock.
Leave me and never return – rejects God’s message. - Moses now tells Pharaoh only then will I depart.
- What have we done? Dead in the Reed Sea.
Your Gods
- Tuhout
- Ha-pee
- Hator
- Ka-Ha-Ka

- Renno
- Khonso
- Khenti

Two years ago, these readings: http://deacongerrypalermo.blog/2021/07/15/good-fortune/
First Reading
[Moses] The God of your fathers has sent me to you.
Responsorial
The Lord remembers his covenant for ever.
Gospel Acclamation
Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest, says the Lord.
Gospel
Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.
Peace be with you,
Deacon Gerry

These are very good questions that speak to the fundamentals of our Faith as Catholic Christians in the USA. The checks and balances within our country’s governmental structure are not to create perfection, but to avoid a cataclysmic catastrophe of power or judgment or both. “Fatherland” by Burkhard Bilger gives a personal insight into the failure of following a one of the most famous demagogues in history. The book could help one understand how Trump’s skillful finding and framing of scapegoats appeals to many, rather than preaching a message that builds up humanity.
Well said!
