Greetings on this the Memorial of the Immaculate Heart of Mary
Readings: 2 Cor 5:14-21; PS 103:1-2, 3-4, 9-10, 11-12; Lk 2:41-51
Notes: Philosophy teaches the three great questions of life:
- Who am I?
- Why am I?
- What is my final end?
The Blessed Mother and Joseph searched for Jesus out of anxiety.
This was a natural response, of course.
Jesus encourages them to go deeper.
Jesus wants us to search for him within the relational purpose of his being.
- Relation to his Father (my Father’s house).
- In the sacred place (where people gather to be sacred and dwell within the sacred).
Mary, took this event deep into her heart with reflection.
Jesus always points us to the Father. Even his own mother.
In the rest of her days, Mary stayed in the place of the Father, a temple, within her heart.
First Reading
We implore you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.
Responsorial
The Lord is kind and merciful.
Gospel Acclamation
Blessed is the Virgin Mary who kept the word of God and pondered it in her heart.
Gospel
Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.
Why were you looking for me?
Did you not know that I must be in my Father’s house?
His mother kept all these things in her heart.
Peace be with you,
Deacon Gerry
