Dialogical Praise

Greetings on this the Friday of the Nineteenth Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: Jos 24:1-13; Ps 136:1-3, 16-18, 21-22 and 24; Mt 19:3-12
Notes: When we gather in celebration for one another and for the LORD we change everything.

Our disagreements and problems become mere dust under the power of love, commitment and the divine praise.

Pay attention to what Joshua did. Joshua changes the LAW in the Book of the Law of God because of the love-vows between the people and the LORD.

This too is pleasing to the LORD. The LORD smiled.

The LAW is subordinate to love.
The LORD helps us figure that out.

Celebrate the covenant – old and new.
Celebrate marriage – new and old.
Celebrate praising the LORD in dialogical fashion.

That we all are elevated.

First Reading
Covenant Ceremony.

Celebrating the love of the LORD for the people from Abraham to the then present time.

Then the people promised Joshua, “We will serve the LORD, our God, and will listen to his voice.” So Joshua made a covenant with the people that day and made statutes and ordinances for them at Shechem.

Joshua wrote these words in the book of the law of God. Then he took a large stone and set it up there under the terebinth that was in the sanctuary of the LORD.

Responsorial
His mercy endures forever.

A song of praise.

When I teach RCIA (now OCIA) I use this praise psalm to teach and celebrate a song of praise, in which the Seekers are urged joyfully to sing out the praise of God.

In dialogical form, to one another for the Lord.

Gospel Acclamation (1 Thes 2:13)
Receive the word of God, not as the word of men, but, as it truly is, the word of God.

Gospel

He answered, “Not all can accept this word, but only those to whom that is granted. Some are incapable of marriage because they were born so; some, because they were made so by others; some, because they have renounced marriage for the sake of the Kingdom of heaven. Whoever can accept this ought to accept it.”

Peace be with you,
Deacon Gerry
