Greetings on this the Memorial of Saint Francis of Assisi
Readings: Gal 6:14-18; Ps 16:1b-2a and 5, 7-8, 11; Mt 11:25-30
Notes: A very moving prayer liturgy last night for the Transitus service in remembrance of St. Francis of Assisi’s passing from earthly to eternal life. I am still processing it. I can say it renewed in me the desire for simplicity and unity with all people, all living things and the Earth itself. Today we celebrate his feast day.
Francis had the Portiuncula Chapel, of which he said, Brothers, this is a holy place where the angels love to come. Hold it ever in veneration, and never abandon it.

First Reading
For neither does circumcision mean anything, nor does uncircumcision, but only a new creation. Peace and mercy be to all who follow this rule and to the Israel of God.
From now on, let no one make troubles for me; for I bear the marks of Jesus on my body.
The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers and sisters. Amen.

At that time Jesus answered: “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth.
“Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am meek and humble of heart; and you will find rest for yourselves. For my yoke is easy, and my burden light.”
