All Nighter

Greetings on this the Feast of Saints Simon and Jude, Apostles
Readings: Eph 2:19-22; Ps 19:2-3, 4-5; Lk 6:12-16
Notes: When you think about it, a night in prayer and then when day came, he called his disciples to himself.

A night in prayer.

I think of you upon my bed, I remember you through the watches of the night (PS 63:7). Is the ordinary night contemplation.

But a night in prayer.
Sometimes on retreat it is available via Eucharistic adoration.
But I am happy if I make the one hour mark (sometimes longer but 2 hours, 3 maybe?)

When he returned to his disciples he found them asleep. He said to Peter, “So you could not keep watch with me for one hour? (Matt 26:40).

A night in prayer. In dialog. In communion. With the Father. With the fellow citizens of heaven. Plenty to talk about.

You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God

No sleep.
No books.
No music.
No distractions.

All Nighter has a new meaning doesn’t it?

First Reading
Brothers and sisters: You are no longer strangers and sojourners, but you are fellow citizens with the holy ones and members of the household of God, built upon the foundation of the Apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the capstone.

Jesus went up to the mountain to pray, and he spent the night in prayer to God.
