Personal Reflection
I prefer the silence of a holy man or woman than the noise of those obsessed with power. Saint Athanasius, Bishop and Doctor of the Church, wrote many important works defending the Church against Arianism. But his most important work (most widely received by the people)? I am not doubting the Church teaching on Arianism.
The Life of St. Anthony.
From this retreat he was to make quite regular trips to visit and counsel his spiritual subjects. And other recorded facts, too, show that Antony must not be thought of as one who immersed himself in his ascetic practices and the eremitical life to the exclusion of all else. [questioning this representation] Athanasius pictures him as going to Alexandria and publicly denouncing the Arian heretics and “Christfighters” (68-70). The world beat a path to his cell in the heart of the desert, seeking cures of body and mind and soul; and,as they had done at Pispir, monks came to him for his sympathy and practical advice.
One is obligated to wonder the authenticity of the chapter on Arianism, late in the book and polemic in nature, and presented at the end of Anthony’s life. I’ve no doubt of his opposition to Arianism. I doubt the language of the presentation of his person in this way.
He spoke with far fewer words. Silently, like the Father.

After much debate had taken place, Peter got up and said to the Apostles and the presbyters: My brothers, you are well aware that from early days God made his choice among you that through my mouth the Gentiles would hear the word of the Gospel and believe. And God, who knows the heart, bore witness by granting them the Holy Spirit just as he did us. He made no distinction between us and them, for by faith he purified their hearts.
The whole assembly fell silent, and they listened.
After they had fallen silent, James responded, It is my judgment, therefore, that we ought to stop troubling the Gentiles who turn to God.
