Greetings on this the Saturday of the Fifth Week of Easter
Readings: Acts 16:1-10; Ps 100:1b-2, 3, 5; Jn 15:18-21
Notes
Today two friends are being ordained priests. One I shared formation with many years ago and the other I helped in his formation only a few years ago. I am honored to serve at their Ordination Mass. Both men have heard and continue to hear the voice of the Lord in love and service.
Summary
Lord our God, who in governing your people
make use of the ministry of Priests,
grant a persevering obedience to your will
to these Deacons of your Church,
whom you graciously choose today
for the office of priesthood,
so that by their ministry and life
they may gain glory for you in Christ,
Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.
- For the Ordination of Priests, Roman Missal, pg 1152.
They are to become sharers in his [Christ’s] sacred ministry:
- Renew in his name the sacrifice of human redemption.
- To set before your children the paschal banquet.
- To lead your holy people in charity.
- To nourish them with your word.
- To strengthen them with the Sacraments.

Personal Reflection
From today’s readings:
- Day after day the churches grew stronger in faith and increased in number.
- Remember the word I spoke to you, ‘No slave is greater than his master.’
When you know someone, even just a little, it brings joy to see them flourish.
May their lives experience the hope and Joy of the Psalmist: Sing joyfully to the LORD, all you lands; serve the LORD with gladness; come before him with joyful song.
