Rejoice
As a bridegroom rejoices in his bride so shall your God rejoice in you.
Reflect
There was a wedding at Cana in Galilee,
and the mother of Jesus was there.
Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the wedding.
The gospel writer of John chose to take the first of the Signs (Signs revealing Jesus as the Messiah to all Israel) to be for the restoration and honor of marriage. It helps to understand the word honor in Hebrew. In Hebrew the word root (Kabed, Kaf) means weighty or significant. To say it another way, to honor marriage is to give it the weightiness and significance it deserves.

Everyone serves good wine first,
and then when people have drunk freely, an inferior one;
but you have kept the good wine until now.
Jesus weighs in on marriage. Jesus weighs in on the significance which is signaled in given the finest wine. The Lord rejoices in us a person, persons, husbands and wives. Families are given this renewed blessing from the Lord as in the days of Adam and Eve. This blessing is the finest of blessings and an inexhaustible source of renewal. The highest blessing of marriage is the Sacramental blessing of the Church rooted in the Sign of Cana, the Finest Wine.
