A fine priest, friar and friend.
One Sunday he told me before Mass that he had his chalice relined with gold. He wanted me to be very careful in purifying the vessel as gold is expensive and it rubs off over time.
So after Communion I purified the chalice with great care. He wasn’t watching, at least he tried to appear so, and when finished I took my seat next to him awaiting the Prayer After Communion. I leaned over and whispered…. Was I gentle enough?
He roared!
