Greetings on this the Thursday of the Thirty-third Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: 1 Maccabees 2:15-29; Psalm 50:1b-2, 5-6, 14-15; Luke 19:41-44
Summary
As Jesus drew near Jerusalem, he saw the city and wept over it, saying, “If this day you only knew what makes for peace (Lk 19:41-42a).
Personal Reflection
My great pain, mirroring St Paul, for I could wish that I myself were accursed and separated from Christ for the sake of my brothers, my kin according to the flesh (Rom 9:3).
Our USA Christian Nationalism has become so perverse as to definitively attract Divine Justice for those who cry out in pain to the Almighty for our hard-heartedness.
Paul could see it in his people. We can see it in our own.
Is it really necessary for me to list the problems?
Really?
And if the light in you is darkness, how great will the darkness be (Mt 6:23b)?
You have been told, O mortal, what is good, and what the LORD requires of you: Only to do justice and to love goodness, and to walk humbly with your God (Mi 6:8).
