First reading
This is the will of God, your holiness: that you refrain from immorality.

  • The direct reference is how to pick a spouse.
  • The broader context is how we conduct our lives.

Responsorial Psalm
Rejoice in the Lord, you just!

Alleluia Verse
Be vigilant at all times and pray,
that you may have the strength to stand before the Son of Man.

Gospel Portion
Everything takes time.
Everything takes effort.

Ten virgins – that is to say ten women of purity.

  • The wise prepare for their eternal life.
  • The foolish take no thought to their eternal life.

None of us, not even those women who are virtuous in keeping their virginity, are exempt from the judgement upon our lives.

  • Do good.
  • Resist evil.

Find the transcendent Lord.

Peace be with you,
Deacon Gerry
