Confidence

Greetings on this the Saturday after Epiphany
Readings: 1 Jn 5:14-21; PS 149:1-2, 3-4, 5-6a and 9b; Jn 3:22-30
Notes: Concluding reading from the Christmas Season with Baptism of the Lord tomorrow.

Have confidence (called faith) in the one who made you and is faithful to you.

First reading
Beloved:
We have this confidence in him
that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.

Responsorial Psalm
The Lord takes delight in his people.

Alleluia Verse
The people who sit in darkness have seen a great light,
on those dwelling in a land overshadowed by death
light has arisen.

Gospel Portion
Have confidence in the Messiah.
Decrease, that he might increase in you.

The one who has the bride is the bridegroom;
the best man, who stands and listens for him,
rejoices greatly at the bridegroom’s voice.
So this joy of mine has been made complete.
He must increase; I must decrease.”

Peace be with you,
Deacon Gerry
