Fat Tuesday

From crosswalk.com

Greetings on this the Tuesday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: 1 Pt 1:10-16; PS 98:1, 2-3ab, 3cd-4; Mk 10:28-31
Notes: Last day before Lent on the Latin Calendar.

Mute your Fat Tuesday celebrations in consideration of the invasion of Ukraine by Russia.

From the first reading today:

Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, live soberly,
and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you
at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

First reading
Do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance
but, as he who called you is holy,
be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct,
for it is written, Be holy because I am holy.

Responsorial Psalm
The Lord has made known his salvation.

Alleluia Verse
Blessed are you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth;
you have revealed to little ones the mysteries of the Kingdom.

Gospel Portion
Peter began to say to Jesus,
“We have given up everything and followed you.”

The last questions of Ordinary Time and the first question of Lent.

  • What have we given?
  • To whom do we give worship?

It is the Lord who has made known his salvation.

Peace be with you,
Deacon Gerry
