Holy Spirit – Our Sustainer

Greetings on this the Tuesday of the Tenth Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: 1 Kgs 17:7-16; PS 4:2-3, 4-5, 7b-8; Mt 5:13-16
Notes: We are in the period between the celebration of Pentecost and Trinity Sunday.

My reflection would tend to reflect the same connection Pentecost and Trinity.

The Pentecost is the day when the LORD sent (and sends) rain upon the earth.
He Sustains us in our difficulties.

Let us know, let us strive to know the LORD; as certain as the dawn is his coming. He will come to us like the rain,
like spring rain that waters the earth (HOS 6:3)

The stories of the life of Elijah gives us insight into how the Lord supported Elijah and all who Elijah came to their aid. Elijah helped in many supernatural ways.

But the most important contribution of Elijah is given by Jesus in his Similes of Salt and Light. We are given gifts to be shared. Shared so people can know the Father.

Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.”
