Summary

  • But one soldier thrust his lance into his side, and immediately blood and water flowed out.
  • We account the blood of Jesus to the blood of the redemptive sacrificial lamb. We account the water of Jesus to be the waters of forgiveness and baptism.

Reflection

The piercing of Jesus’ side was to bring a visual expression of the release of grace and the portal for access to the inner person of God. Equally true is we need to allow the same act of loving trust with the Lord. Pierce me, Lord, that your graces may enter and my inner spirit may rejoice and be renewed.

Personal Reflection

I credit Fr Quesnel Delvard for his leadership of the parish of Sacred Heart back in the day. He was quite insistent we observe the Solemnity of Most Scared Heart of Jesus as befitting of a parish so named. He asked me to write a Triduum which the link is above. Could use some updates and some fixes. Wonder and awe concerning love and acts of love is never outdated!
