Greetings on this the Fourteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time
Readings: Isaiah 66:10-14c; Psalm 66:1-3, 4-5, 6-7, 16, 20; Galatians 6:14-18; Luke 10:1-12, 17-20
Summary
The LORD chose us, 72 of us in this gospel portion, to bring the Good News and the comforting presence of the divine love. The goal, the mission is here:
You shall nurse, carried in her arms, cradled upon her knees; As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you (Isa 66:12b-13a). The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit, brothers [and sisters]. Amen (Gal 6:18). …rejoice because your names are written in heaven (Lk 10:20b).
Reflection
Sunday is a day of rejoicing. Looking a the readings in toto, the Lord has brought us peace, cures, power over our lives and Joy. All the things that weigh us down and defeated. Mere echoes of the power they once had over us.
Jesus said, “I have observed Satan fall like lightning from the sky. Behold, I have given you the power ‘to tread upon serpents’ and scorpions and upon the full force of the enemy and nothing will harm you (Lk 10:18-19).
Sorrows come and go. Difficulties are a constant. But liberation from evil is assured and is your gift from the Lord. I thank the Lord for The Mission of the Seventy-two. And the anointing of the 70 x 7 missionaries – Reconciliation.
How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of the one bringing good news, Announcing peace, bearing good news, announcing salvation, saying to Zion, “Your God is King!” (Isa 52:7).
Personal Reflection
Many things attempt to weigh me down and at times succeed in ‘hold my head underwater’. All the problems are transitional and impermanent. Divine peace, divine joy, divine power, and divine healing are all given for us and it is permanent so rejoice because your names are written in heaven.”.
Come and hear, all you who fear God, while I recount what has been done for me. Blessed be God, who did not reject my prayer and refuse his mercy (PS 66:16, 20).
