Greetings on this the Tuesday of the Twenty-eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Readings: Romans 1:16-25; Psalm 19:2-3, 4-5; Luke 11:37-41

Summary

I am not ashamed of the gospel. It is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes. [It is] the word of God is living and effective, able to discern reflections and thoughts of the heart. [As for you] But as to what is within, give alms, and behold, everything will be clean for you (Rom 1:16, Heb 4:12), LK 11:41).

Practice Almsgiving

Giving alms to the poor.

  • Donate money to organizations that have the ability to provide support and services for those in need. Do research and find organizations that put people in need first, rather than profit.
  • Skip the morning latte and put that money in the collection basket at church.
  • Find a charity that is meaningful to you and volunteer your time or donate.
  • This Lent, give up eating out at restaurants. Pack you meals and donate the extra money to charities.
  • Participate in CRS Rice Bowl

Reflection

If I read, hear or listen to another Catholic ranting about how we worship, who we support politically, and being parrots of Internet podcasts and TV Talk Shows… grrrr.

Personal Reflection

  • Seek God
  • Do Justice
  • Stop yapping

  1. Yeah, I get a “little “ tired with the “comments” about how the current liturgy is not “valid.” Disparaging the legitimate teachings of the Church, from early times to Vatican II! Yes, there has been updating initiated by our bishops and Popes, the work of the Holy Spirt. Open yourselves to it!

    1. So true! I remember when they changed the Creed (I believe, not We believe). It’s a nice alignment with the past. I tried to counsel people not to position it as Bad to Good. Just think through what you are implying. Can’t we just say, a nice realignment with the past, and not use it as a cudgel?

Yes, old and new, borrowed and new, like weddings.
