Greetings on this the Friday of the Second Week of Easter
Readings: Acts 5:34-42; Psalm 27:1, 4, 13-14; John 6:1-15
Summary
And all day long, both at the temple and in their homes, they did not stop teaching and proclaiming the Messiah, Jesus. So the men reclined, about five thousand in number. Then Jesus took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed them to those who were reclining, and also as much of the fish as they wanted (Acts 5:42; Jn 6:10b-11).
Reflection
My reflection today is sort of influenced by the fact I am preaching the 3rd Sunday on the Road to Emmaus. I see this arc:
- Thursday (yesterday) – Believe in the One from Heaven.
- Friday (today) – Multiplication of the Loaves (abundant giving).
- Saturday – Jesus Walks on the Water (power over the elements).
- Sunday – Emmaus (encounter, personal).
- Monday – Seek the food for Eternal Life..

Personal Reflection – the Outcome by way of the Psalmist
The LORD is my light and my salvation;
whom should I fear?
The LORD is my life’s refuge;
of whom should I be afraid?
One thing I ask of the LORD
this I seek:
To dwell in the house of the LORD
all the days of my life,
That I may gaze on the loveliness of the LORD
and contemplate his temple.
I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD
in the land of the living.
Wait for the LORD with courage;
be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.
